“I’d rather regret the risks that didn’t work out than the chances I didn’t take at all.”
-Simone Biles
The 2016-2017 seasons of gymnastics, tumbling, and cheer have already been exciting. We know there’s a lot to balance between school, the gym, and finding time to be kids, so we’re proud to be a part of their lives.
Gem City is excited to offer skill clinics this October and November! Skill clinics are one-hour group sessions focusing on a specific skill or set of skills for just $15 for each clinic.
Clinics are a great setting for learning because of the singular focus on technique and the variety of coaching voices that get to be heard. It’s not uncommon for athletes to pick up skills they’ve been working on just because a new face is working with them.
We can’t tell you how often people say to us: “I wish I would have done gymnastics as a kid.” Well, we’re here to tell you that an active lifestyle shouldn’t stop because you’re not a child anymore. (Just check out the video below!)
The physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, and balance needed for gymnastics is just as important in adulthood as it is in childhood. Because of this Gem City offers adult gymnastics every Wednesday from 7:15-8:30. It’s $9 per time and there’s no commitment.
Gem City offers adult gymnastics as an hour and fifteen minute open gym. Participant experience levels range from absolutely none to former competitive gymnasts and tumblers. Though most focus on tumbling skills, athletes are free to work on any gymnastics and tumbling events.
Each open gym begins with a skills based warmup then participants are free to work toward their individual goals.
Twenty girls on the Gem City Gymnastics teams qualified to compete in the Level 3 State meet on March 4-6 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. We’re so proud!
Gem City’s gymnastics team saw so much success in 2014 and they’re carrying it right into 2015. They’ve had two meets so far with two strong showings.
The first meet was the King Arthur Invitational in Bourbonnais, Illinois, on January 23-25. The level 3 girls brought home a second place team award. Great job, ladies!
The following weekend in Collinsville, Illinois, Gem City had its second gymnastics meet of the 2015. This meet was the Gateway Challenge. The level 4 girls earned a second place team award.
The hard work and dedication to perfecting the details is paying off!
Congrats to the Gem City Tumbling Team on a great competition in Arthur, Illinois. It was the biggest competition of the season so far with around 800 athletes in attendance. The Gymnastics Team competed in Cincinnati, Ohio, with two athletes.
