We are excited for Christian Klingele, one of Gem City’s competitive tumbling team members, as he is now a member of the USTA National Team!
Christian,18 and from Plainville, is an Elite tumbler and has been a member of the GCGT tumbling team for two seasons. He attended USTA Nationals last summer in Louisville, Kentucky as an Advanced level athlete. He started off this current season one level higher than last season, making him an Elite athlete with no difficulty cap. On Sunday, February 16, he tried out for the National Team during a competition in Normal, Illinois. Only three male Elite tumblers were chosen to represent this level on the team.
The National Team requires a one-year commitment for Christian and he must participate in special practices and a performance during Nationals week, which is June 16-21 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Christian is also a member of GCGT’s senior all-star cheer squad. He has been on the squad three seasons. He has competed at Nationals the past two seasons for all-star and will be at Nationals again in April in Myrtle Beach, SC for this season’s last competition.
Christian went to public school through eighth grade, and then he was home-schooled for two years. He graduated high school early and then attended John Wood Community College where he earned his Associate’s in Arts Degree with a concentration in accounting. Christian has also worked as a coach at GCGT since March 2023. This past summer he also took on the role of being one of our youth all-star cheer squad coaches.
