August 2024 Newsletter
It’s the last week (August 5) of the summer session! The last day of summer classes is Friday, August 9. Can you believe it went by so fast!?
The gym will be closed August 10-25 for classes. We WILL still be hosting Preschool Playtime on Wednesday, August 14 and Wednesday, August 21, along with birthday parties and field trips.
Don’t forget! Fall registration is still underway, so give us a call at 217.224.8491 or stop in before August 10 to register. Feel free to call over break as well as we’ll be returning calls over break and can reserve your fall spot over the phone!
The schedule is available now if you’d like to look at class days, times, and tuition prices for the upcoming 16-week fall session. You can find the classes here. Here are a few more details:
- Fall session starts, Monday, August 26, and runs until Saturday, December 21.
- No payment is due upon registering your child for fall session. The first half-payment is due the first week of class and the second half is due by October 1.
Two new programs this fall – Gem City will offer homeschool classes on Tuesday mornings and recreational cheer on Tuesday nights. Based on demand, we hope to expand the days and times offered in future sessions. Also, our tumbling classes have been reformatted and the names are different.
We hope everyone has enjoyed watching the Olympics! We’ve really enjoyed watching all the gymnastics!

Troy Scholarship Awarded
We are excited to share that we have awarded the Troy Scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year! Thank you to everyone that nominated a child. This memorial scholarship means so much to the coaches here at GCGT. We are so proud to continue to honor Troy in this way.

Open Gym: THIS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7
Gem City will host its next Open Gym this Wednesday, August 7 from 12-2pm, ages 5-12. $18 & $21.
Upcoming Events:
Open Gym: Monday, September 2
Our next Open Gym is on Monday, September 2 from 930-1130! The deadline for sign up will be Thursday, August 29. Ages 4-12. Members $18, nonmembers $21. Bring some extra dollars to purchase TCBY. Prices ranges from $2 to $4.
Pizza Fun Night: Friday, September 20
Gem City’s first Pizza Fun Night of the school year will happen on Friday, September 20 from 630-930pm, ages 5-12. $25 & $30.
⚡️ Private Lesson Policy
Private lessons beginning Fall Session 2024: all lessons must be paid for BEFORE the lesson or a full month in advance. We will no longer be accepting private lessons to sit as past due balances. If there is no one in the office when you’re at the gym you can give your payment to your coach or put a check/cash in the brown box outside the office door. We can also take card payment over the phone in the event you need to pay with a card but won’t be at the gym with your athlete the day of their lesson.
❤️ Good Grades Drawings
Planning ahead to the Good Grades Drawings for the 2024-2025 school year: We have been made aware that some schools in the area are moving to a trimester schedule and some have already done so. At the same time, other schools will still be on a quarter system. We will continue to do our drawings quarterly, but we will still take all entries! Simply bring in your grade card whenever you receive it and we will enter it into the next drawing we hold – regardless of if you are trimester or quarter. Our gym will continue to have four drawings a year, so just remember to do well in school and bring in your grades when you get them! Our first drawing will be Wednesday, November 6, as the first quarter (in Quincy) ends October 18.
