April 2024 Newsletter
This is such an exciting month for Gem City! We’re prepping for summer session and our athletes are wrapping up their competitive seasons with state, regional, and national championships.
You can explore Gem City’s summer schedule right now! These are the important dates to know:
- Evaluation week is the week of April 8. Each child will receive an evaluation from their coach on what the best class for next session would be.
- Registration starts on Monday, April 15. Call or stop in the office early to have the best chance of securing your preferred day and time. Please note that we attend to those that come into the office first and then we will return calls in the order they are received as we have time to call you back.
Here’s where our teams are heading for championships:
Good luck to both of our all-star cheer squads as they attend NATIONALS later this month! Our senior squad will be competing in Pensacola, Florida, on Saturday, April 13. Last year they earned third place at Nationals and the year before they were National Champions, so we are excited to see how they perform! Their last competition they earned their highest score of the season! Our youth squad will be competing the same day but in Des Moines, Iowa, at Nationals. The youth squad has also earned a higher score with each competition they’ve competed this year! (Pssst. Tryouts for next year’s squads are coming up on May 4. More info here.)
Good luck to our tumbling team as they will be attending their State meet on Sunday, April 21, in Mount Zion, Illinois! We have 30 athletes competing and trying to qualify for Nationals, which is in June in Louisville, Kentucky.
Congratulations to our Level 7 and Level 8 athletes that attended their State meet last month – they all qualified for Regionals! Good luck to Sylvia, Eden, and Kaylin as they attend USAG Regionals in Dayton, Ohio, April 19-21.

Springtime Pizza Fun Night: April 26
Our Springtime Pizza Fun Night on Friday, April 26 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, and you must pre-register by Thursday, April 25. Ages 5-12. Members $25, nonmembers $30. Blessed Sacrament School will provide a FREE activity!

Spring Tuition Due
The second half of spring tuition was due by March 1. Your spring session classes should be paid in full by this date.
There is NO Preschool Playtime on May 15 & 22
Please note that we will not hold Preschool Playtime on May 15 and 22.
This Community Rocks!
Thank you to everyone that attend the St. Patrick’s Day PFN! With the proceeds we were able to make a donation to the Quincy Children’s Museum. Our donation provided 42+ kiddos and their families with half price admission and membership to QCM through their Museums for All Initiative.
Final Good Grades Drawing of 2023-2024 School Year
Our fourth and final Good Grades Drawing of the school year will be June 19. Call or stop in the office with your report card to enter!!
The winner of the drawing will be featured on our blog and will receive any one piece of merchandise from the pro shop for free!
Note on Snow Days and Make-Up Classes
If you missed class because of a snow day or two and haven’t scheduled a make-up yet, be sure to pop into the office and we’ll get you scheduled! We have until the end of the session, May 11, to get these classes made up. So we have plenty of time! We’re hoping we don’t have any more snow days!

Preschool Playtime
For all of our Preschool Playtime attendees. You may have noticed the flyer at the sign-in table on Wednesday mornings, but we thought we’d share here as well. Our admission price for PP will be increasing to $9 per child starting summer session, Wednesday, May 29.
Private Lessons
Starting summer session, May 29, private lessons will increasing in price. $35 for 30 minutes, $45 for 45 minutes, and $60 for an hour.

See You at JDUB Academy!
We hope to see you in our structured tumbling & cheer class for grades 4-6 at John Wood Community College’s JDUB Academy! Check their summer course catalog! We’re excited to have GCGT at JWCC for this fun program!
New Parking Lot Coming Soon
We are excited for a new parking lot! With that being said, we will have a small disruption in our schedule – kinda. The gym is on break from May 12-28. However, our contractors will be hard at work May 15-28 demolishing and remaking our parking lot. This will NOT disrupt any gym classes AT ALL! BUT….we have LOTS of field trips and parties that book in May that we would LOVE to get on our schedule earlier this year. Please help us get the word out. Give us a call ASAP to get an available slot at the end of April or the beginning of May. We will have NO events beginning Wednesday, May 15, including Preschool Playtime.
