Level 4 & 5 Gymnasts Earn Spots at State Championships
Gem City’s Level 4 & 5 gymnasts had a great meet season with 14 athletes qualifying to advance to the USAG Illinois State Championships. The meet will be hosted by X-Caliber Gymnastics on March 18-20 in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
Advancing to State competitions is not easy. Each athlete had to earn a 34.00 All-Around score at a qualifying invitational earlier in the season. Our Level 4 girls attended six invitationals this season throughout Illinois and Missouri.
Our Level 4 athletes practice up to four times a week at practice and then usually attend one-on-one lessons throughout the season to perfect certain skills. Level 5 athletes practice five times a week.
Training in gymnastics often means working through times when you can’t see your progress. We’re proud of the hard work each athlete has put into their own talent and growth during the year.
Gymnastics team coaches include Jacob Huff, Hope Huff, Ashley Schralla, Katelyn Dixon, and Sarah Shumake. You can read more about Gem City’s gymnastics program and find our meet schedule here.
