Gymnasts Compete at Regionals
Haley Woodyard and Ava Winking competed at Regionals for Gem City and as members of the Illinois Regionals Team. Haley placed 2nd on balance beam and 7th on vault. They are coached by Jacob Huff, Hope Huff, Kiki Backoff, and Damon Wilson. We are proud of both girls for making it so far this season!
Winking and Woodyard qualified for the Regionals competition and the Regional Level 8 team after strong performances at USA Gymnastics (USAG) Level 8 State Championship. Only the top eight scores for all Level 8’s in Illinois move forward to represent the state on the Regional Level 8 Team. We are especially excited that two of those eight athletes are from our gym and the Quincy area.
USAG held its Level 8 Regionals in Akron, Ohio, for Region 5 on April 21-22. The Region consists of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio. It is one of the strongest and most competitive regions in the entire country.
