Good Luck to Level 4 and Level 7 gymnastics teams at their State Competitions

red pattern

It’s been a great meet season for our Level 4 and Level 7 gymnastics teams! They are coached by Jacob Huff, Hope Huff, Kiki Backoff, and Cameron Shreve. The coaches love all the fun and hard work these athletes put in, and the effort has paid off- several athletes qualified for the Level 4 & 7 State competitions.

These athletes have to be strong, but their minds need to be even stronger. Training in gymnastics often means working through times when you can’t see your progress. We’re proud of the hard work each athlete has put into their own talent and growth during the year.

Qualifying for these state competitions is no easy feat either. The girls attended a minimum of five and a maximum of eight invitational competitions throughout the season, which started in October. Level 4 athletes also had to earn an all-around score of 34.0 or more in order to qualify for State while Level 7 athletes had to earn a 34.5 or more all-around score. The Level 7 gymnasts that earn a 35.0 or higher all-around score at State will qualify for Regionals, which is April 21-23 in Michigan.

The Level 4 State competition is on March 10-12 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The athletes competing are: Autumn Speckhart (13, Quincy), Kielyn Ott (10, Canton), Abby Pilkington (11, Fowler), Anna Venvertloh (10, Quincy), Sophia Weis (12, Quincy), Alaina Loman (10, Palmyra), Ayanna Douglas (9, Quincy), Isabella Stupavsky (11, Quincy), and Addison Bruening (14, Quincy).

The Level 7 State competition is March 24-26 in Grayslake, Illinois. The Level 7 gymnasts attending State are: Rylee Mellon (11, Quincy), Ava Winking (11, Quincy), Haley Woodyard (11, Quincy), and Abigail Barnes (12, Quincy).

Good luck Level 4 and Level 7 gymnastics teams!
