Evaluation week is a great opportunity for coaches, athletes, and parents to celebrate the progress that’s been made during the session! Each athlete will receive a written evaluation from their coach for their recommended class for the next session.
Nineteen athletes from Gem City’s tumbling team traveled to Charleston, West Virginia, for the 2019 National Championships of the United States Tumbling and Trampoline Association (USTA) on June 17-22. Nationals had over 2,100 athletes from 147 teams competing 4,500 events.
Gem City’s novice girls tumbling team earned a first place trophy in their division. Plus, there were several top 10 individual finishes. Gem City’s tumbling team coaches are Zeke Cernea, Laci Heller, Anne Nash, and Lydia Schrand.
Ava Winking, a soon-to-be freshman at Quincy High School, is the winner of our Good Grades Quarterly Drawing for the fourth quarter of the 2018-2019 school year! We’re always excited by the opportunity to share in our athlete’s success at school with our Good Grades Quarterly Drawing.
Gem City will hold no classes or team practices on the Fourth of July. Happy Independence Day! Please enjoy your holiday.
Gem City has 19 athletes out of the 25 that qualified at State advancing on to United States Trampoline & Tumbling Association (USTA) National Championships. It’ll be held in Charleston, West Virginia, on June 17-22.
Gem City is proud to announce the members of our 2019-2020 Gem City All-Stars! We are very excited to have a bigger squad this upcoming season with a ton of great talent!
Bree Barnes will graduate from Quincy Senior High School this year. She is the daughter of Brian and Cinda Barnes and a part of the Gem City family for almost 12 years. She was on gymnastics team, tumbling team, and just this past year on the Gem City All-Star squad. In 2012, Bree qualified and competed in the AAU Junior Olympics.
Sophia Soltwedel, long-time presence at Gem City as an athlete and employee, will graduate from Quincy Senior High School this year. She tumbled at the gym for 10 years, competing for seven of those years on the Tumbling Team. Sophia also danced for 10 years at Beth Heinze Dance Academy and was very involved in high school.
The gym is closed for classes May 15 – June 5, but Preschool Playtime will play on.
Before we start summer classes on June 6, we’ll be taking a quick break at Gem City.
Preschool Playtime will be available each Wednesday during the gym break during its regularly scheduled time. It’s every Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 am for only $5. Gem City’s Preschool Playtime provides open, unstructured time for kids age 6 and under to play in the gym
Gem City’s All Star Squad earned 7th place out of 19 squads in their division at Nationals! Their score of 96.033 out of 100 was their best score all season. They competed with over 500 other teams at the 2019 US Finals-Cheer and Dance National Competition in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
